Womans Clinic

This image is not a representation of reality, but the anxiety that comes along with being a man or trans man and having to attend a specifically female clinic. When one needs to have an ultra sound or be checked for breast cancer it is difficult to feel confident and natural. Some womens clinics are themed pink and specifically geared toward making women feel safe and comfortable. This picture is my comment on how that attempt at comfort can make a male (not just a trans male, but any man) feel uncomfortable. The phrase "you stick out like a sore thumb" comes to mind.

I'd like to mention. I do not think that pink is a feminine colour or that only women should wear pink. I'd wear pink myself if it didn't clash horribly with red hair. (case in point) I have used it to represent femininity in this picture because that is the colour of the breast cancer clinic I visited some few years ago pre-surgery. I was also thinking about how in hospitals they put girls in pink and boys in blue from birth.

I made this image after my recent ultra sound to make sure I'm in good health where my remaining female reproductive organs are concerned. It may have been a mistake to try and colour it with pencils but it was a worthwhile experiment.
